- 在学校成绩、数学兴趣或综合表现上较为突出;
- 愿意主动提问、愿意尝试新的跨学科体验;
- 由丘成桐先生与其他数学大师、菲尔兹奖得主和音乐大师亲自授课;
- 更多时间用于小班讨论和一对一交流;
- 如果你希望先系统地看一圈「数学可以通向哪里」,优秀营就非常合适;
- 如果你已经在竞赛、自学或研究中投入很多时间,喜欢主动找更难的问题, 那么在优秀营中认真表现,就有机会进入精英营;
Students & Frequently Asked Questions
This page is for Grade 7–12 students and their families. It explains the two cohorts, basic selection ideas, and common questions about learning and life on the island.
1. Two Cohorts: 300-student Week & 30-student Elite Week
1. Outstanding Students (≈300)
Open to all Grade 7–12 students who complete the application:
- Good performance at school and visible interest in mathematics;
- Willingness to ask questions and try cross-disciplinary activities;
- Hope to experience “Math + Programming / Music / Finance / Quantum / Space” in one structured week.
2. Elite Students (30)
From the 300-student cohort, about 30 will be selected for the second week:
- Classes taught directly by Professor Yau and other mathematical and musical masters;
- More time in small groups and one-on-one discussion;
- Special evening dinners with professors for in-depth conversation.
3. Which Cohort Fits Me?
A simple way to think about it:
- If you mainly want to see where mathematics can lead in different directions, the 300-student week is already very valuable;
- If you are already heavily engaged in contests, self-study or mini-research, and enjoy seeking harder questions, then performing well in Week 1 may open the door to the 30-student elite week;
- Families do not need to fixate on “must get into 30”. What matters is whether the student gains long-term motivation and direction.
2. Frequently Asked Questions
The camp is open to students in Grade 7–12. Contest medals are not required. They can be a reference, but we care more about sustained interest, self-motivation, and the thinking shown in your application.
In Week 1, most sessions will be in Chinese, with English terms and expressions introduced gradually, and interpreters or bilingual TAs will support communication with Fields Medalists.
In the Week-2 elite program, English will be used more frequently, and students are encouraged to try asking questions in English.
To support independent growth and social interaction, parents do not stay with students during the camp. On arrival and departure days, parents may accompany students to designated areas. We will share regular updates through reports or photos.
No. The camp is not a formal admission pathway for any university or program. However, the interest, dedication and growth you show may later be reflected in recommendation letters or personal statements.
Take time to think about a few questions or projects that really matter to you in the past 1–2 years, and answer open-ended questions carefully, rather than just listing scores and medals.
Absolutely not. The elite week is designed for a small group at a particular stage; it does not fix anyone’s long-term trajectory. What truly matters is whether you continue to invest in your interests after the camp.
Students will stay at designated facilities on Changqin Island, with three meals a day and snacks. Dietary preferences or restrictions can be indicated in the application. The camp will have experienced staff, medical support and clear safety procedures.
The latest dates, fees and scholarship policies will be announced via official notices and email updates. Please follow the “News” and “Apply” sections on the main page.
